Start your day with this apple cider vinegar and lemon juice. This recipe can help improve your health, including lowering your blood sugar, losing weight, and improving your digestion.

Many of us have heard about the amazing health benefits of apple cider vinegarbut of course the taste can be a bit hard to swallow.
You also don’t want pure vinegar on your teeth lest it erode the enamel. When you mix it with some other healthy ingredients, you get a delicious drink that you can feel good about.
Why you need this recipe
- This apple cider vinegar drink recipe contains vitamin C and may help lower blood sugar levels.
- This healthy drink takes minutes to make and is made with pantry ingredients you likely have on hand.
- No blender is required so you can make this while everyone else is still sleeping if you are an early riser.
main ingredients

Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) is a healthy fermented vinegar with natural probiotics and healthy bacteria. At least one study has shown that the acetic acid in vinegar can help lower blood sugar levels. I like to use an unfiltered, organic apple cider vinegar like Bragg’s.
Fresh Lemon JuiceAlthough it is acidic, it adds a better flavor to the strong vinegar. The lemon water also helps add vitamin C, which supports the immune system. You can also use lime juice if you like. Do not use orange juice as it contains too much sugar.
raw honey (or maple syrup) adds just the right amount of sweetness to make this drink go down easily. If you’re concerned about adding sugar, you can use liquid stevia instead (see my list of the best natural sugar substitutes).

Let me show you how easy it is to make this apple cider vinegar detox drink that can be part of a healthy diet and lifestyle.

In a jar with a lid or tall glass, add 1-2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar, water, and lemon juice.
As always, please see the recipe card at the end of this post for the exact ingredients and measurements.

You might want to drink a tall glass of water after your apple cider vinegar shot. You can also drink it through a straw if you’re worried the acid will erode your tooth enamel.

- If you prefer a sweeter version, increase the honey to 1-2 teaspoons (note, however, that the added sugar may decrease this drink’s hypoglycemic properties).

Frequently asked questions about recipes
This is the actual organism that ferments the vinegar and provides probiotics. Choosing a bottle of ACV with this content will give you the best benefits you can have. Think of the nut as the SCOBY that helps make kombucha.
I usually reach for honey to sweeten drinks like this, but if you’re vegan (or don’t like the taste of honey in this drink), plain maple syrup is a great option.
You can, but you don’t have to. A small study showed that drinking vinegar before bed can help with blood sugar levels. Ask your doctor when he or she recommends consuming this drink.
Talk to your doctor. However, a study showed that honey can have a positive effect on body weight and lipids, including triglyceride levels, in diabetics.
It may be, but there is no scientific evidence for it.
The recipe makes one serving, but you can halve it if you’d like.
