You won’t win every piece of work you pitch for; it’s just not possible…and very time you lose a contract it’s going to a competitor. However, you can help prevent this from happening by analysing the competition.

Why analyse competition? How does this help? It allows you to understand why your competitor looked like a more appropriate fit for your perspective clients needs as well as what they are doing that you aren’t. To get contracts, you need to understand how you lose them.

You need to evaluate their strengths and weaknesses. How are they better than you? Do they have more experience? Do they have existing relationships with the client? Figure exactly out their strengths and then do two things.

Firstly, figure out how to turn their strength into a weakness – find a way to twist a positive aspect into a negative one. For example, are they an older company with more experience? Then emphasize that you are more creative, free-thinking and adaptive.

How are they planning to beat you and other competitors? Ghost their strengths in your proposal and try and downplay their importance to the client, instead emphasising the importance of your unique selling points. Where your competitor is weak emphasise what you can do in those areas. Make sure you explain how you excel above what is normally expected.

The internet makes doing competitor research remarkably easy. You can browse a corporate website or, if using an outsourcing site, you may be able to view previous contract history. If they do any type of advertising, weather offline or on, you can review and research the marketing information they use. It’s not hard to find out something about how they position themselves, any legitimate business will do some sort of self promotion that you can find. This knowledge is invaluable to helping you grow and achieve better contracts.

How come painting cars is so hard compared to lets say a flower? Well the main thing with cars is that every little line has to be perfectly proportioned one little mistake and it can screw up the whole painting. This is because our brain is very good at remembering shapes and details around it. While a red rose can have different shades, come in different sizes, different leaves etc, a car model stays the same, so we will spot the difference rather quickly when something isn’t correct.

When you do your next car panting, do not rush the early parts of it, the part when you try to get all the proportions right before starting to shade or paint. It doesn’t matter if you are extremely good with colors, or your shading technique is superb when you draw cars. If you don’t get the proportions right, the end result will not be very good. That is how important it is to get the proportions right. How do you do it? How do I do it?

Start out with a clean sheet of paper, preferably a pretty big one. Find a good picture of that car you want to draw, this picture will be used as reference for your car painting / drawing.

Start by doing some soft lines on the paper, try to get the general box proportion right. By box proportion I mean the most basic lines, like the cars bottom and roof. After you have done that, start by adding the front or rear of the car. (Depending on how the car is positioned on your reference picture)

When this is done, and you feel you really nailed these lines well, then move on to the small details like the headlights, door handles, windows etc. My advice is to not start doing the wheels to early because those are usually the hardest part. Do the wheels when you are happy with the overall lines of your car painting. Then take a break. Yes take a break for it all! This is good because when you come back an hour or so later you will probably notice small things that needs to be corrected, which you didn’t notice while you were drawing the car. Add this small details and remember don’t start to shade and paint the car until you feel very satisfied with the cars shape and details. When you do, then I would suggest you start to shade it carefully. How you shade it correctly is another topic, which I will cover on my next article.

• Are there any limits to how much I should pay in case of a major illness?
• Does the plan cover up the expenses of delivering a baby?

3.Have people had good results when covered by a specific plan (quality of care)?

• How do self-governing government organizations rate the different plans?
• What do my friends say about their understanding with a specific plan?
• What does my doctor say about their knowledge with a specific plan?

Starting a new business is scary, exhilarating, challenging and at times downright confusing. It’s easy to get overwhelmed by the huge number of tasks in front of you. When you get in that state, step back and think, “What can I do today that will get my message in front of my customers?” If you’re thinking about this all the time, the other details will fall into place.
The first thing you need to do is decide on the goals for your business. What do you personally want to get out of it? How many hours do you want to work? How many employees do you want to have? How much money do you want to make? Next, do the math. So many people—including me—have learned the hard way that the business they created is not capable of meeting the goals they set for themselves. To help avoid this problem, do some market research to determine how much you’ll be able to charge for your product or service and what volume you’ll be able to sell. Think about how many hours you’ll be able to work in a day and get a rough idea of the maximum amount you could make. Once you have rough estimates for those figures, you can decide if the money you could make or the time you need to put in will be worth the effort. You’d be surprised at how many people spend years working in a business that is just not capable of becoming what they hoped it would, even if everything went perfectly.
Many new entrepreneurs think success is all about developing a great product or service, but actually it’s all about selling it. Before you spend tons of time and money developing your product, make a prototype or develop a clear and concise description of what it will be, and do some market research. Figure out who your prospective customers will be, and go talk to them! Ask questions. Find out what they’ll pay. Consider their feedback and modify your design accordingly. Look at other companies that are selling similar products or services. Find out what they charge, how they market and what their competitive advantage is. Go into their stores and watch their customers. Find out what they are doing and why, and how customers respond. Once you think you have a clear understanding of what the market wants, then move ahead with your product or develop your service.
You’ll also need to decide what kind of company structure will best fit your plans (S Corp., LLC, sole proprietorship and so on).
If possible, work out of your home for awhile or rent the minimum space and equipment necessary to run your business. It’s important to keep your overhead as low as possible, at least until things start to take off. Resist the temptation to rent a nice office and fill it with furniture and equipment. I used to think that was impressive, but I came to realize it was just expensive.

You Deserve To Do What You Love!

When we pursue doing what we’re passionate about what does that mean? John Dir says in his article How to Find Your Passion, “Passion is a pure form of motivation or compulsion that provides an energizing constant which is independent of environmental demands. It is an irresistible drive to focus one’s attention and energy to accomplishing something of personal worth, which cannot be daunted by a sense of failure to accomplish the goal.” Did you ever wake up one morning way before the alarm went off just because you were going to do something you just couldn’t wait to do? What was it? You deserve to do what you love! In fact it’s exactly what you’re supposed to be doing.

Oh, you knew that already? So how do you figure it out?

Let’s start with the obvious:

1. What would you do if you were independently wealthy
and no longer had to do anything to earn money?

2. What do you enjoy doing so much that you would do it
everyday for free?

These questions are not easy for some people to answer. Many people consider these questions frivolous. After all, I’m not independently wealthy and I can’t afford to work for free.

Well, back up. I didn’t ask if you were wealthy I asked what you would do if you were. Please… allow yourself the opportunity to dream. This is a key. I know you know how to daydream you do it everyday.

You see if you get stuck on how to make money with your passion you’re not going to allow yourself to figure it out. Go back to question #2. What are you doing now for free that you love to do? Listen to your heart, not what you think others expect of you.

Plan the time in your life to do more of what you enjoy doing. Put it on your day planner if you have to. If you love to travel, plan it. Go online and study the places you want to go. Read about the hotels and the sights. Envision yourself doing those things. Plan day trips around where you live go find the unusual things in your neighborhood. Get guide books on your state and become an expert at finding the places that interest you. Practice traveling in your back yard. Take a picnic if you can’t afford to stop and eat. Do It!

I spend at least an hour each day studying Philosophy and Personal Development. I can’t get enough information it consumes my free time but it’s what I look forward to everyday it’s what I’m excited about each morning. What am I going to learn today that I can share with others?

Now let’s get to the money part. You may never earn a penny from your passion but what does it matter if you’re doing what you love. At least in your spare time. However, if you become knowledgeable in a particular area that you love and over time you know more about it than most other people guess what? You have value in that area. How do you market that value? Write an eBook and sell it through ClickBank, build a website, write a book to get published, share what you’re learning with others when you have the opportunity, teach it at an adult learning center, write articles to submit on the internet. Information today is like gold, it has great value and there are people everywhere looking for it. And just imagine how much joy you will get out of sharing what you love with others. They will not help but see your passion. I have read that after about 4 years, people who have pursued their passion start to make close to what they made in their old unfulfilling jobs – often even more.

I offer one more quote from John Dir’s article How to Find Your Passion, “Your life’s passion may be discovered in an instant, or take many long years to uncover. You will know you have it when your heart of hearts tells you, “I don’t care what other people think. I know this is what I want to do, and I am going to get started making it happen. I don’t care how long it takes, or how difficult it will be for me to accomplish; I just know I need to see where this idea will take me.””

Take it from someone who has learnt how to stop smoking after 17 years; you have to make the decision to have your final smoke.

I wrote in a previous article about the necessity to get your mind right first when considering how to stop smoking. It is like anything in life, if you go at this uncommitted you will fail. It took me three months, maybe even longer to have my final smoke. When I first sat down and asked myself the ‘how do I stop smoking?’ question, I set in motion a thought process that led me to smoke free living.

Every single time I had a cigarette, I would be thinking about stopping. I would think about every single reason I should stop, no matter how trivial, and I would repeat each reason to myself over and over again. Think about someone you have seen have a cigarette for the first time. What happens? They cough and splutter violently, of course much to the amusement of those around them but the point is this is not a natural thing for the body to be doing.

I realized I had forced my mind and body into this filthy habit and I could get myself out of it too. Now, I am not talking about going at it cold turkey, what I am saying is the answer to ‘how do I stop smoking?’ is in the grey matter between your ears. If you use a quit smoking product, whether a patch, gum or pill, you are expecting the product to do the work for you. This is why many quit smoking products, even one like Final Smoke, fail people.

The key is not to make a big deal of it. Just set a date, sooner rather than later, and stick to this date. Avoid making it a Monday, if possible, as this is usually a bad day for everyone. The less significant you can make this date, the easier it may be.

Many people fail to quit because they use their irritability as a crutch and in a lot of cases they annoy the people around them so much that eventually someone might say something like, “I will go buy a pack for you if you just stop such a pain”. Let your friends and family know you are making a ‘do or die’ attempt to quit so they know how to help you to stop smoking.

There are no easy answers to the ‘how to stop smoking?’ question but knowing ahead of time what can be expected will help tremendously. Remember this, there are many other people around the world who have beaten this unnecessary addiction and gone on to live happier and healthier lives.
